Matthew 5:23-24 New King James Version (NKJV)

“23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”

Do you have any slobs in your life? I used to be that way. Before I began dating my wife I used to have to taking a running start just to jump over the clutter in the room of my duplex to get to my bed. But, eventually I realized that nobody likes a slob and the woman of my dreams wouldn’t put up with it. You may wonder what this has to do with our scripture this week? The passage reminds us that we can’t reach our full potential in our walk with Christ without dealing with sin in our lives. Sin holds us back from serving to our full capability. It holds us back from offering God our gift as worship and for His glory. And while sin will always be in the picture during our time on earth, asking God for forgiveness helps our heart and mind focus on God’s calling for our left. We simply cannot put our best foot forward when distracted by sin. God deserves the best you. Deal with what’s holding you back and let God bring you to your full potential.
